Innisfail Jubilee Bridge
Innisfail Jubilee Bridge
The Jubilee Bridge was officially opened on Friday 28 September 1923 and after serving the Innisfail township for the next 87 years was closed to traffic in July 2010 due to it’s deterioration and was completely demolished in 2011.
A new bridge was constructed 20 metres upstream from where the old Jubilee bridge stood, with construction commencing in July 2010, with construction completed in only 10 months, the new bridge was opened in September 2011.
The design of the new bridge comprises double arched piers, curve fascias, pattern concrete balustrades and custom street lighting thus allowing it to blend seamlessly into Innisfail’s Art Deco Architecture.
After much public consultation the new bridge was again renamed Jubilee Bridge as a mark of respect to the old bridge that once stood over the Johnstone River.
